Tangena Church, long-time Carolina Opry cast member and fan favorite, is returning to the stage of The Calvin Gilmore Theater after a one-year hiatus. Known for her powerful voice, dynamic range and energetic stage performances, audiences have been eagerly awaiting her return. Tangena will return as a featured vocalist in both The Carolina Opry and Good Vibrations – but she does a lot more than just sing! Calvin Gilmore said, “That Broadway-musical-edge that Tangena brings to the show mix is a great addition.”

favorites- All That, clogging stars of America’s Got Talent, Nathan Herron of American Idol, Kim Perry Williams, Christie Templeton, Brad Long, Rita Gumm, Kym “Bogie” Shurbutt, Eric Gumm, Trent Wideman, Gary Brown and a cast of over 35 award-winning musicians, vocalists and dancers.
The first variety show in Myrtle Beach- and still voted #1 every single year- the award-winning Carolina Opry show blends two hours of critically acclaimed music, comedy and dance in a 2,200-seat theater with state-of-the-art lighting and sound effects. The Carolina Opry was recently named the “Top Attraction in Myrtle Beach” by CNBC.
A few nights a week, The Calvin Gilmore Theater also brings you Good Vibrations!, the best music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, blended with rich multimedia screens, special effects and elaborate costuming, all performed live by the award-winning cast of The Carolina Opry.
A native of North Carolina, Tangena brings a variety of performance experiences to The Carolina Opry stage. She began her singing career at four years of age in her mother’s gospel choir. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Tangena has traveled extensively abroad as a featured entertainer on various cruise lines and in the U.S. on the Broadway National Tour of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Other theater credits include Man of La Mancha, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Cabaret. Tangena has been with The Carolina Opry since 2001.
Gilmore Entertainment has long been the leader of musical variety show entertainment in the Southeast, with the classic Carolina Opry show and their newest hit, Good Vibrations. Gilmore and his Carolina Opry have been featured by USA Today, ABC Nightly News, Southern Living Magazine, Variety, and a host of other newspapers and television shows. It is the only Myrtle Beach show to receive the coveted South Carolina Governor’s Cup, as well as being voted South Carolina’s Most Outstanding Attraction. In recent years, Gilmore has performed regularly on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and he is designated as South Carolina’s Official Country Music Ambassador.
