The Chicora Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach presents its fourth annual ?Waves of the Future ? Rotary?s Celebration of Horry County Schools.? The event is planned to be held at Calvin Gilmore Theater ? Home of The Carolina Opry on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 4pm.
 
We will again showcase theatrical talents of children grades K ? 12. Our previous Waves events packed the house and featured more than 600 students from 16 different schools and all proceeds went to non-profit causes including $10,000 each year for Horry Schools Fine Arts Programs. Our ?fun-raiser? will again provide funds for the Fine Arts programs in the schools and for the many local and international projects which Rotary supports, including Polio eradication, the Dictionary Program, and Project Happy Feet.

Myrtle Beach Performing Art Series – An Evening With Garrison Keillor

This January Garrison Keillor will appear at the Calvin Gilmore theater in An Evening With Garrison Keillor. The renowned writer, actor and radio personality has an extensive and varied body of work. Known for his popular books Lake Wobegon Days, Leaving Home and countless others, Keillor is best-known for his award-winning radio series A Prairie Home Companion and the nationally-released movie adaptation, starring Keillor as himself and co-starring Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Woody Harrelson and Tommy Lee Jones.

 

His solo performance of An Evening With Garrison Keillor includes hilarious anecdotes about growing up in the American Midwest, the people of Lake Wobegon, and late-life fatherhood. With a wonderful, dry sense of humor, Keillor captivates audiences using his unique blend of comedy, class, charisma, and wisdom.

The groundbreaking producer and director that introduced live entertainment to Myrtle Beach nearly 30 years ago is now debuting his latest production, Thunder and Light, directed by Jeffrey Gilmore. This entirely new live production features the nationally renowned clogging group All That, combined with a multi-million dollar laser light show. The show includes exclusive, original choreography by All That, interviews and background on the group, and the same multi-colored 5-laser show that toured with Pink Floyd and Madonna.
