The Carolina Opry Theater introduces new show, updates to signature shows
The 2018 season at The Carolina Opry Theater once again brings a level of production diversity never before seen in Myrtle Beach. This year will mark the 33rd season of award-winning live entertainment in Myrtle Beach, an accolade unmatched by any other live variety show. In addition to a record season of the popular Myrtle Beach Performing Arts Series, the theater will present 5 different original productions: The Carolina Opry, Time Warp, The Carolina Opry Christmas Special, Thunder and Light starring All That!, and the all new Pure Magic, starring The Wagsters.
The Carolina Opry Show adds vocalist and magic to the lineup
Though elements in the shows change each year, one element remains constant: the level of world-class talent and production values that visitors have learned to expect on The Carolina Opry Theater stage. This season welcomes back sensational new vocalist and fan favorite, 17-year-old Rory John Zak. The Carolina Opry Show will also add an extra element of magic this season with the illusions of the Wagsters, the charming duo that fans have seen in other Gilmore productions such as Thunder & Light and their new feature show, Pure Magic. Joining them, as always, is hip-hop clogging group All That!, famous from NBC’s America’s Got Talent, and a cast composed of over 35 of the world’s most award-winning vocalists, musicians and dancers. Expect new songs, added magic segments, fresh elaborate costumes and sidesplitting comedy to delight even those guests who have seen the show many times over.
More About the Time Warp Show
Directed by Calvin Gilmore’s son, Jeffrey Gilmore, this season’s Time Warp is a fast-paced, high-energy show that brings you the best music of the 60s, 70s and 80s, blended with comedy, accompanied by rich multimedia screens, special effects and elaborate costuming—all performed live by the award-winning cast of The Carolina Opry Show. The newly added Woodstock segment returns along with some added twists as the show takes you on a virtual tour back to the decades that brought us the best in American popular music.
More About the Thunder and Light Show
Returning for its 4th season, Thunder and Light stars the nationally renowned clogging group All That! combined with a multi-million-dollar laser light show and features the magic of The Wagsters. The show blends exclusive original choreography by All That!, thrilling contemporary music, interviews and background on the group, the same multi-colored 5-laser show that toured with Pink Floyd and Madonna and some incredible illusions.
